Zutaten
  

1 package (16 oz) frozen pierogi (cheese and potato or your choice)

2 cups sauerkraut, drained

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup sour cream

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent and golden, about 5-7 minutes.

    In the bottom of the crockpot, layer half of the frozen pierogi, followed by half of the sauerkraut, and then half of the sautéed onions.

      Spread half of the sour cream over the onion layer, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

        Repeat the layers with the remaining pierogi, sauerkraut, onions, sour cream, and cheese. Make sure to end with a layer of cheese on top.

          Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the pierogi are cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

            For a crispy top, you can transfer the contents to an oven-safe dish and broil for 2-3 minutes just before serving if desired.
