Pizza Grilled Cheese

4 slices of sourdough bread

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup pepperoni slices

¼ cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Anleitungen
 

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

    Spread a layer of marinara sauce on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

      On two of the slices, layer half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly, followed by the pepperoni slices, then another layer of mozzarella cheese.

        Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the cheese layer.

          Top with the second slice of bread, sauce side down, creating a sandwich.

            Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet.

              Carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.

                Flip the sandwiches gently using a spatula, pressing down slightly, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and crispy.

                  Remove from skillet and let rest for a minute before cutting.

                    Serve hot, with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping, and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
